What is so special and unique about this work of art? That it isn’t a religious painting; it shows another way of thinking, mythology, it may be a kind of poetry dedicated for Venus.
The painting shows us the Venus garden; there are Venus, the 3 graces, Mercury, Flora, Céfiro and Cloris fairy (earth and wind).

Botticelli was part of the Medicis that is one of the reasons of his painting interpret the aspirations of universal harmony and man strength in the classic culture and myths.

With the growth of Humanism, artists turned to Classical themes, particularly to fill commissions for the decoration of the homes of wealthy patrons, the best known being Botticelli's Birth of Venus for the Medici.


What were the predominant political, religious or artistic ideologies?
The Catholic Church was the most important organization in that time. Throughout the period, civic commissions were also important, local government buildings like the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena being decorated with frescoes and other works .During the 15th century portraiture became common. Patrons of art works such as altarpieces and fresco cycles often were included in the scenes, a notable example being the inclusion of the Sassetti and Medici families in Ghirlandaio's cycle in the Sassetti Chapel.

What scientific and technological advances made and impact in the period? In which way?
The vitruvian man, it is called the Canon of Proportions is drawing based on the correlations of ideal human proportions with geometry described by the ancient Roman architect; this was used on the paintings.

What are the aspects of the period that you identify yourself with? The union of all the members in the painting.


OPINION

I believe that in the original painting the colors use were too dark and the feeling represents to me is for sadness no for joy and the spring always has been connotations of live and love because is the Season when the flowers grow up, the bird song and the people fall in love that’s the reason why I used bright colors in my representation, I made a mixture with blue a cold color which denotates mysticism or divinity like in the original painting.I can imagine Venus wearing this necklaces in her garden.
